Udaipur
This is Rajasthan’s most congenial and romantic city situated in the lap of the thickly wooded Aravali Hills. Founded in 1568 by Maharana Udai Singh following the final sacking of Chittorgarh by the Mughal Emperor, Akbar, Udaipur rivals any of the world famous creations of the Mughals with its Rajput love of the whimsical and its superbly crafted elegance. Udaipur has been called the “Venice of the East”.

Things to Do
Horseback Riding: What Camel riding is in Jaisalmer, horseback riding is in Udaipur, a must! Situated in the middle of the Aravalli-Mountains, Udaipur offers a fantastic landescape and unrivaled views. Various operators offer horse rides here, but the best choice is definitely Princess Trails. They have superb Marwari Horses, well-kept and looked-after and they really pamper you on their rides. They organize both shorter and day rides and also horseback safaris with overnight stays in a camp in the middle of the wilderness. This is something very special away from the usual touristic routes.
Good option is the Krishna Ranch. They offer similar kind of services as others, ranch is situated about 7 km from Udaipur. It is also possible to overnight there as they have cottages. Toilet and shower is in separate building, vegetarian meals provided. Same people run Hotel Kumbha Palace, 104 Bhattiyani Chohatta in Udaipur town, just next to City Palace.
