Corbett National Park
Located in the foothills of the Kumaon Himalayan ranges, Corbett National Park is the place where the king of the jungle reigns supreme. The park was established as India's first national park in the name of Hailey National Park in 1936 through the efforts of a conservationist Jim Corbett. Corbett is situated on the banks of River Ramganga and an ancient civilization prospered here.
With a core area of 330 sq kms and, stretching over 520 sq kms, the Corbett National Park is a home to a large variety of flora and fauna and is famous all over world for its wild population of Tigers, Leopards and Elephants.
After the launch of Project Tiger in 1973, the park became one of the first such tiger reserves in the country.
Corbett National Park has a varied topography comprises hilly and riverine areas, temporary marshy depressions, plateaus and ravines. The lower areas are almost completely populated by Sal trees. In the Jim Corbett National Park are found 110 tree species, 50 species of mammals’, 580 bird species and 25 species of reptiles.
The park boasts of animals such as tigers, elephants, nilgai, sambar, gharial, chital, King Cobra, muntjac, wild boar, hedgehog, common musk shrew, Porcupine, flying fox, Goat Antelopes , Indian Pangolin etc. The tree-top perches are full of Langur and Rhesus Monkeys always alarming the jungle of the call of the wild cat when they spot a tiger.
Different kinds of crocodiles are also a major attraction in the park.
Different zones for Game Drives
Dhikala
Taking a game drive to Dhikala is full of adventures. A mesmerizing drive through dense Sal forests and Ramganga River, offering a scene of lush green valley coupled with delightful climate, the trip to Dhikala is counted as one of the best adventures in India.

Bijrani
The area was once the hunting ground for the rulers and covers entire area in and around Bijrani. The place was a shooting paradise during British rule and has more diverse
vegetation than Dhikala.
The day trips by Jeeps are allowed in Bijrani and the place is accessible after crossing about 5 kms of buffer zone starting from the entrance gate at Aamdanda, located about 1 km. away from Ramnagar Forest Department Office.
One can also take Elephant Safari in the forest with prior permission from the forest department.
Jhirna
Situated at a distance of 16 km. from Ramnagar, the place lies in the southern area of the park. Jhirna is known for its Forest Rest House and was one of the rare village which was in agriculture and was taken over in 1994 to bring it under Project Tiger after relocation of villagers.
Natural beauty at its best, and a house of wild beer, Jhirna is the open for tourists all around the year. The forests of Jhirna are full of bamboo trees and the area is more dry than other zones of the region.
It also offers a variety of birds adding to the joy of visitors. However, you always have a great chance to spot leopards, tigers, sambar and other mammals during your jungle safari.
Elephant Safari
An elephant safari provides the best option to visit the national park enabling you to sneak into the grasslands and jungles in search of tigers or wild elephants. A twice a day affair will compel you to soak in the wild environment of the Corbett National Park.
Jeep Safari
Jeeps Safari is the most convenient way to explore the beauty of the great forests of this national park. The safaris are provided by the government forest department and have to be booked in advance.
